Emergencies

If you need emergency assistance after office hours, your call will be forwarded to Dr. Caruso or another psychiatrist covering for him. If in the unlikely event you do not hear back within 30 minutes, please call Dr. Caruso’s cell phone (615) 403-5100. The number for the crisis hotline is (615) 244-7444. You may also dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Appointments

Dr. Caruso personally makes all his own appointments. Call during office hours Monday through Friday between 9AM and 5PM. Please leave a message with your name and number if you cannot speak with him directly. Dr. Caruso only treats adults 18 and over.

Fees

Payments are due at the time of the appointment. Dr. Caruso only accepts Venmo, checks or cash. He does not accept credit or debit cards. He does not accept insurance.

Prescriptions

Routine medication prescriptions and refills are completed during appointment times. If you need to call for refills, you can do this during office hours, Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5 PM. There are no routine medication refills after hours.

Cancellations

Dr. Caruso requires a full 24 hours of notice if you must cancel an appointment. Please contact Dr. Caruso as soon as you are aware you will not be able to keep your appointment even if the office is closed. If a full 24 hours notice is not given, you will be charged the full fee for your missed session.

Electronic Communications

You may communicate with Dr. Caruso via email or text, but this should be restricted to routine issues such as checking or changing appointment times. It may take several days to respond to emails or texts. If there is any issue of moderate importance, that should be communicated by phone.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Dr. Caruso holds what you say to him in the strictest confidence. If your condition puts the safety of you or someone else in imminent danger, the law requires him to place yours and others’ safety above your confidentiality.
